Sifuna Responds to Ruto Over Opposition Policy Agenda - September 2026
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has responded to President William Ruto's accusations that the opposition lacks a policy agenda by promising austerity measures and the restoration of meritocracy if they gain power. At the same time, Rigathi Gachagua, leader of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), has unveiled a 100-day plan for a hypothetical opposition government, focusing on reforms requiring political goodwill rather than extensive financial resources. Western Kenya MPs have also presented Ruto with a list of political and development demands as a condition for rallying the region behind his 2027 re-election bid. A new poll by Bobea Report indicates Ruto would lead if elections were held today, but the race for 2027 remains open with a significant number of undecided voters.
