The Council of Governors (CoG) has unanimously removed Nyeri Governor Dr. Mutahi Kahiga as its Vice Chairperson following his "untimely, reckless, and unspeakable" remarks about the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The decision was made during a Special Council meeting after extensive deliberations on the impact of Kahiga’s utterances.
CoG Chairperson and Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi stated that Kahiga’s sentiments were "personal remarks" and did not represent the views of the 47 county governments.
The CoG issued a formal apology to Odinga’s family, describing him as a national icon.
