The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a warning to motorists to avoid sections of the Thika–Garissa (A3) road due to severe flooding. Heavy rainfall since Monday has rendered parts of the highway impassable, particularly between Bangali and Madogo, urging caution as water levels are expected to rise with continued rain.

• Affected stretch is between the 31km and 37km marks from Bangali Centre.
• KeNHA has deployed engineers and emergency response teams to the site to monitor the situation.
• The same Thika-Garissa highway was closed for three months in July for maintenance work on the Kavenge (Mbakini) Bridge.
• The warning comes amidst Kenya's short rain season (October to December), with varied regions expected to receive above-average rainfall.
