Nairobi has become the host of the first-ever regional office of the International Trade Centre (ITC), a move lauded by President William Ruto for bringing global markets closer to East African producers. The new office, located at the United Nations Gigiri Complex, is the ITC's first corporate branch outside its Geneva, Switzerland headquarters.

The office was officially opened by Zainab Hawa Bangura, Director-General of the UN Office at Nairobi (UNON), on November 11.
President Ruto made his remarks during the 25th East African Community (EAC) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Trade Fair at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi County.
The Kenyan government is supporting MSMEs by expanding access to affordable credit, financing, and capacity building.
