Hundreds of workers on the Kitale-Morpus Road project in Trans Nzoia County staged protests and blocked the Kitale-Kapenguria highway on Wednesday, November 12, over alleged poor working conditions. At least 400 workers participated in the protest.
The project is a Ksh28 billion initiative, funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the European Union (EU).

The 75-kilometre road connects Trans Nzoia and West Pokot Counties and is being undertaken by a Chinese company.
They urged Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua to intervene.
