Responding to the need for greater inclusivity, nominated Senator Crystal Asige has urged for the complete implementation of the Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Act in Kenya, which became law in May 2025. Speaking in Nairobi, Asige championed stronger institutional and media efforts to ensure equality and meaningful participation for all Kenyans.

• Asige, a visually impaired lawmaker and award-winning musician, emphasized that the PWD Act must serve as a framework for accessibility and opportunity across both public and private sectors, moving beyond mere symbolism.
• She challenged Kenya's media to actively shape narratives around disability by including people with disabilities in newsrooms, dedicating airtime to their achievements, and providing at least one hour daily or weekly segments featuring them.
• The senator also called on government agencies to fast-track regulations to operationalize the PWD Act and encouraged journalists to enroll in disability awareness courses at the Kenya Institute for Special Education (KISE).
