Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has apologized and launched disciplinary action following a father's accusation of extortion and unprofessional conduct by a staff member. The hospital stated that immediate action has been taken against the officer involved.

• The father, Kinoti Joseph, alleged a Social Health Authority (SHA) discharge desk officer demanded a Ksh. 2,070 "apology fee" for an overstay.
• KNH Acting CEO Dr. Richard Lesiyampe confirmed disciplinary proceedings and stated the child had been discharged, with reimbursement initiated.
• Joseph later refuted the reimbursement claim and alleged they were "chased out" of the facility after his social media post went viral.
