Residents of Saru in Marsabit County are accusing the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of failing to conduct voter registration in their area since 2021. This oversight could disenfranchise thousands of young people in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

• Mohammed Noor, who acquired his national ID in 2018, fears he will be unable to vote due to the lack of local registration services.
• Residents, primarily pastoralists, dispute existing population figures and allege that inconsistent registration practices have led to discrimination, denying them the right to choose leaders. They claim to have over 2,000 new IDs without corresponding voter registrations.
