Mount Kenya University (MKU) and the Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy (ADMA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance seafarer training in Kenya and the region. This partnership aims to co-design and deliver courses in maritime studies, artificial intelligence in maritime applications, and marine safety and sustainability.
- The courses will be hosted at ADMA or virtually, with MKU gradually building local capacity.
- The MOU was signed by MKU Vice Chancellor Prof Deogratius Jaganyi and President of ADMA Dr. Yasser Al Wahedi.
- The agreement will address the challenges of limited local training facilities, allowing Kenyan seafarers to obtain advanced certifications without traveling abroad, saving on high travel costs and logistical hurdles.
