Kenya and Italy have provided 120 African innovators with computer access, positioning Nairobi as a central hub for the continent's artificial intelligence revolution. This initiative emerged from the Nairobi AI Forum 2026, organized with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

• A total of 1.5 million graphics processing unit hours have been distributed through Cineca, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft.
• The Special Envoy on Technology for Kenya, Ambassador Philip Thigo, highlighted that the "Intelligence Economy" will be defined by compute infrastructure, sovereign talent, and shared innovation.
• The forum unveiled the AI Hub for Sustainable Development, a partnership between UNDP and the Italian G7 presidency, which selected 120 ventures from over 300 applications across Africa for compute resources and acceleration support.
