Kenya’s Mount Kenya University Malindi Maritime Academy in Kilifi County has installed a new Sh30 million bridge simulator, significantly boosting maritime training in the country. This development is seen as a crucial step in aligning Kenya’s seafarer training with international standards and leveraging the blue economy.

• The simulator cost Sh30 million and was installed at Mount Kenya University Malindi Maritime Academy.
• Chief Executive Prof Charles Ongodo and Council Chairman Simon Gicharu from the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) commended the academy for its advanced training facilities.
• Andrew Mwangura, a maritime consultant and former General Secretary of the Seafarers Union of Kenya (SUK), highlighted the simulator’s importance in equipping Kenyan youth with competitive skills in the global maritime industry.
