A World Health Organization (WHO) doctor has warned that the current Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo may be spreading faster and more widely than initially believed, with cases now confirmed in neighboring Uganda.

• More than 513 cases are suspected in DR Congo, with 131 deaths confirmed.
• An WHO doctor, Dr. Anne Ancia, stated that investigations reveal cases have spread to other areas, including the city of Goma and the province of South Kivu, as well as Uganda.
• Concerns are escalating due to the outbreak's spread in an "unsecured area with lots of movement of population," and the existence of a rare Ebola strain for which there is no vaccine.
