The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced a fuel price increase, with a litre of super petrol going up by Sh8.99 nationwide, effective from midnight.

• A litre of super petrol in Nairobi will now cost Sh186.31.
• The price of diesel and kerosene also rose by Sh8.67 and Sh9.65, respectively.
• The average landed cost of imported super petrol saw a 6.45% increase from US$590.24 to US$628.30 per cubic meter from May to June 2025.

The recent hike in fuel prices by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has left Kenyan motorists and motorbike riders reeling. The price of super petrol, diesel, and kerosene increased by an average of Sh9 on July 15.

The UK government is introducing grants that will reduce the cost of new electric vehicles (EVs) by up to £3,750 to encourage a shift away from petrol and diesel cars. The scheme, funded by a £650 million budget over three years, aims to boost sales of environmentally friendly vehicles.
