In contrast, former Chief Justice David Maraga has criticized the government’s implementation of the program and questioned its long-term sustainability. Maraga raised concerns regarding the viability of the Nyota Fund. Additionally, as a presidential aspirant, Maraga claimed the source of the project's funding is unknown and that its financial transparency is questionable.

JSC Appoints 15 Court of Appeal Judges; Court Nullifies 21 Presidential Advisor Roles

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has appointed 15 lawyers as new Court of Appeal judges in Kenya following the conclusion of interviews. Among those formally appointed by the JSC to serve on the Court of Appeal are Isaac Hassan and Katwa Kigen. In a separate judicial action, a Kenyan court has nullified the appointments of twenty-one advisors to President William Ruto. The court order, which challenged the legality of their advisory roles, resulted in their immediate job loss.
