The government has suspended Lister Onsongo, CEO of the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK), over an alleged violation involving the illegal placement of nursing students for internships.
- 42 Bachelor of Science nursing students were unlawfully listed for internships before completing their studies.
- The suspension was confirmed by Aden Duale, Cabinet Secretary for Health, pending an internal audit.
- The Ministry of Health revoked internship letters for the affected students and appointed Ann Mukuna as interim CEO of the NCK.
