The Ministry of Health in Kenya has ordered an urgent review of security protocols in national referral hospitals after two murders at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), the latest occurring on July 17.
- The murder victim, Edward Maingi Ndegwa, was found with visible neck injuries shortly after a family visit.
- Aden Duale, Health Cabinet Secretary, cited “systemic failures in leadership, governance, and safety” as contributors to the security lapse.
- A prime suspect, Kennedy Kalombotole, a long-term patient, has been linked to previous unsolved murders and was arrested shortly after the incident.
