Gachagua Refuses DCI Summons and Criticizes CBK Survey - August 2025
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has challenged Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to arrest him upon his return to Kenya due to his explosive claims in the United States linking President William Ruto to terrorism. Gachagua has defied Murkomen’s order to record a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) regarding these remarks, reiterating his willingness to assist U.S. investigations and promising to publicly share his return flight details. Concurrently, while touring the United States, Gachagua urged Kenyans in the diaspora to reject the Central Bank of Kenya's (CBK) proposed household survey on remittance inflows, warning that the 'ill-intended' and 'intrusive' survey could lead to additional taxes on remittances.
