Air Canada to Cancel Flights; Kenya Airways Plans Flying School and Fleet Expansion - August 2025
Air Canada will begin cancelling flights as a potential strike looms after the union representing its 10,000 flight attendants, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), issued a 72-hour strike notice. Separately, Kenya Airways (KQ) plans to establish a flying school to boost pilot training capacity and diversify its revenue streams, as announced by CEO Allan Kilavuka. KQ also plans to acquire 16 more aircraft, increasing its fleet from 34 to 50, to enhance its regional and global competitiveness. This strategic expansion comes as KQ reported its first half-year profit since 2013 and is part of the airline's strategy to achieve sustained profitability.
