The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has named Leo Muriuki Muthende as its candidate for the upcoming Mbeere North parliamentary by-election on November 27. Muriuki was chosen through consensus among seven aspirants.

• The Mbeere North seat became vacant after Geoffrey Ruku was appointed to President William Ruto’s cabinet.
• UDA Deputy Party Leader Kithure Kindiki praised the consensus reached by the candidates.
• The UDA nominee is expected to face competition, including from a candidate backed by Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka united at Musyoka's Yatta ranch in Machakos County on Friday, vowing to combat what they deemed State-sponsored propaganda aimed at destabilizing the opposition.

• Matiang’i accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of peddling lies and spending money on bloggers to create false narratives about them, instead of investing in crucial sectors like education.
• Kalonzo Musyoka asserted the opposition's strength, stating, "This team is strong. They (Kenya Kwanza) pray every day that we disintegrate but we know that if we do not hold together we will have let Kenyans down and we can’t afford that."
• University dons present, including Political Geography lecturer David Osebe from Kenyatta University, challenged the opposition to expand their reach beyond their geographical strongholds to secure victory in 2027.
