Trump Announces NYT Lawsuit, Faces Court Ruling, and Moves on TikTok Deal - September 2025
Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Monday his plan to sue the New York Times for $15 billion over alleged defamation and libel, stating the lawsuit will be filed in Florida. In a separate event, a federal appeals court has blocked President Trump from removing Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook, a ruling that allows her to participate in the upcoming Fed's policy meeting. Additionally, the US Treasury Secretary announced a "framework" deal has been agreed with China regarding the ownership of TikTok's American operations. US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to finalize the agreement on Friday.
