Kenya Secures 2nd at World Athletics; Rising Starlets Draw in World Cup Qualifier - September 2025
Kenya finished the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo as Africa's top nation and second globally behind the USA, securing an impressive second place. The nation's athletes brought home a total of 11 medals, including seven gold, two silver, and two bronze, showcasing dominance in middle- and long-distance running events. Following the performance, the government promised substantial rewards for the Kenyan athletes' achievements. In international football, the Rising Starlets of Kenya played to a 1-1 draw against hosts Ethiopia. The match was the first leg of the second round of the 2026 Fifa Under-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifier held in Addis Ababa. Elizabeth Mideva scored for Kenya just 37 seconds into the match.
