Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and other opposition leaders were notably absent from the Mashujaa Day celebrations held on October 20, 2025, in Kitui, an event attended by President William Ruto. The celebration was held in Musyoka's home turf of Kitui at Ithookwe Stadium. Instead of attending, Musyoka opted to pay tribute to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Even after his reported death, Raila Amolo Odinga's political influence and presence were said to have been notably felt during the 62nd Mashujaa Day celebrations.
