The protracted doctors' strike in Kiambu County, lasting over 150 days, has officially concluded following an agreement between the Kiambu County Government and the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU). Doctors are set to resume duties on Monday, October 27, by 8 am.

• The strike, which began on Friday, October 24, was resolved through mediation efforts led by the Council of Governors.
• KMPDU Secretary General Davji Atellah confirmed that the deal addresses long-standing issues including promotions, salary delays, transfers, statutory deductions, and medical insurance.
• The agreement provides a return-to-work formula that rectified the concerns previously raised by doctors in Kiambu.

The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has called off a 151-day strike by Kiambu doctors after reaching a deal with the Council of Governors (CoG). The agreement ensures the immediate payment of October salaries and one month of withheld arrears, ending one of Kenya's longest county doctor strikes.

• The settlement was mediated by Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki and Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir.
• Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi and KMPDU Secretary-General Dr. Davji Atellah led the delegations.
• The remaining three months' arrears will be settled in the 2026/27 financial year, starting July 1, 2026.
• The deal includes an undertaking to reinstate union dues deductions and guarantees no victimization for striking medical personnel.
