The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has officially appointed George Obell as the Commissioner for the Micro and Small Taxpayers Department (MST), effective November 10, 2025. This appointment aims to strengthen KRA's capacity and enhance service delivery for small businesses.

• George Obell has served KRA for over 28 years in tax administration.
• The MST Department, established in March 2025, offers tailored tax education and support to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
• Obell previously held roles as Deputy Commissioner for the Medium Taxpayers Office (MTO) and East & South of Nairobi (E&SON) Tax Service Office, spearheading tax digitization reforms.

President William Ruto has appointed Dr. Charles Olang’o Onudi as the new Non-Executive Chairperson of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) for a period of three years, effective from November 7, 2025.

• Dr. Onudi's appointment was gazetted on November 7 under the provisions of the State Corporations Act (Cap. 446).
• He brings extensive experience, having served in senior roles in Kisumu County, including County Executive Committee Member and acting County Secretary.
• Dr. Onudi also held positions as a Provincial Medical Officer and Director at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).
• His role is crucial in providing oversight and maintaining governance standards at JOOTRH, a vital Level 6 medical facility in Western Kenya.

Kenyan teachers' unions and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) have agreed to transition to the new Social Health Authority (SHA) medical cover starting on December 1. This move aims to address past challenges with the previous medical scheme and improve healthcare access for teachers.

• A Joint Technical Committee has been established to oversee the transition, comprising representatives from the TSC, KNUT, KUPPET, KUSNET, KESSHA, and KEPSHA.
• The Acting TSC Chief Executive Officer, Evaleen Mitei, announced that the Commission has revamped its Medical Division to facilitate a smooth migration from the Minet-managed cover.
• The SHA scheme is expected to resolve issues such as limited provider networks, long preauthorization times, and inconsistent service quality, ensuring quality medical services for teachers and their dependents.
