Motorists using the Rironi–Nakuru–Mau Summit (A8) Highway are advised to expect significant traffic disruptions and consider alternative routes this Friday due to the launch of the highway's dualling project by President William Ruto.

• The President will launch the dualling of the 175-kilometre highway.
• The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) issued an advisory recommending alternative routes including Ngong – Suswa – Narok – Mau Narok – Njoro – Nakuru.
• The project, covering approximately 233 kilometres, is a crucial part of the Northern Corridor, a key trade route for Kenya and East Africa.

Kenya has secured a new Ksh24 billion (USD 185 million) loan from the Export-Import Bank of China (China EximBank) to finance the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) Project in Nairobi, aimed at modernizing urban mobility and reducing traffic congestion.

• The agreement was signed on Wednesday, November 26, by Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi and Zhu Jia, Deputy General Manager of the Sovereign Business Department for China EximBank.
• The ITS project will equip 25 roundabouts in Nairobi with digital traffic management systems, including traffic lights, cameras, and sensors.
• The initiative is expected to improve traffic coordination, reduce congestion, enhance road safety, and shorten travel times, with an initial government contribution of Ksh6 billion for the project.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) issued a notice advising early planning and offering alternative routes to mitigate expected delays along the busy corridor.

• The road dualling project covers 170km of the A8 Road.
• KeNHA has provided several alternative routes, including Nairobi – Ngong – Suswa – Narok – Mau Narok – Njoro – Nakuru (approximately 190-195 km) and Nairobi – Thika – Magumu – Njabini – Ol Kalou – Nakuru.
• The project is estimated to cost Ksh180 billion and will subject motorists to tolls upon completion.
