The Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) has launched an online portal for registering engineering projects, aiming to enhance professionalism and oversight in the construction sector. This move seeks to ensure all projects are properly designed and supervised, addressing concerns about unapproved and substandard constructions.

• The EBK Chief Executive Officer Eng. Margaret Ogai announced the new Engineers Project Registration Portal, requiring engineers to register projects and obtain a unique number before county approvals.
• EBK has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Construction Authority (NCA) and the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS) to facilitate information exchange and enforce design and supervision standards.
• Eng. Ogai condemned private developers for often failing to employ registered engineers for designs and not securing proper approvals or permits from the NCA, leading to substandard buildings.
