In the 2025 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA), girls significantly outperformed boys, excelling in 10 out of 12 subjects. This marks a notable gender gap under the Competency-Based Curriculum, with girls showing particular strength in languages and humanities.

• 64.86 percent of girls met or exceeded expectations, compared to 51.41 percent of boys.

• A total of 1,130,459 learners took the assessment, and 9,540 Senior Schools are prepared to absorb all candidates for placement starting next week.
