Ahead of the 2027 General Election, political leaders from Western Kenya are pushing for Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi to be selected as President William Ruto’s running mate. Concurrently, President William Ruto has hinted at a political alliance with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party for the same election. Speaking at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay Town, Ruto urged ODM leaders to strengthen their party. In response to internal matters, National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed announced that the ODM party will address members accused of "auctioning" the party to President William Ruto starting in January.
