Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has criticized the proposed Field Development Plan (FDP) for the Turkana oil project, labeling it the “biggest scandal” of President William Ruto’s administration. Sifuna has warned that Kenyans risk losing significant benefits due to alleged red flags, suspicious amendments, and opaque ownership changes within the deal. He has called for public scrutiny of the plan, which he alleges to be President Ruto's "biggest scandal yet." In a related development, the Kenyan Senate is inviting public input on the South Lokichar Field Development Plan (FDP) and associated Production Sharing Contracts. The public has until Friday, 16 January 2026, to submit feedback on the proposals for Blocks T6 and T7 in Turkana County, which signify a move towards commercial oil production.
