Security Breaches, Fuel Adulteration, and Public Unrest Reported - December 2025
The year 2025 subjected President William Ruto to an unprecedented series of security breaches, including physical assaults, cyberattacks, and a fatal intrusion at State House, Nairobi. In a separate matter, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) exposed numerous instances of fuel adulteration and diversion of export-bound diesel into the local market between October and December 2025. EPRA has vowed stern action against offenders. Meanwhile, the government issued a five-day eviction notice for squatters on government lands in Trans Nzoia County, warning of a crackdown on illegal firearms. In another incident, boda boda riders set a matatu on fire along the Nairobi–Nakuru highway in Gitaru after it fatally hit a 22-year-old rider.
