Martha Karua, leader of the People’s Liberation party, has urged President William Ruto to respect the opposition and ensure political engagement is free from police intimidation. Separately, elders from Wajir County issued a stern warning to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, cautioning him against actions that could promote tribal divisions. In another development, opposition leaders are intensifying their calls for the Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Hussein Marjan Hussein, to resign. They also demand the annulment of the contract with Smartmatic for its digital election equipment.
