The Kenyan government is encouraging recent Form Four leavers to enroll in short, hands-on courses at Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions before their university placements in September.

• Principal Secretary for TVET, Esther Muoria, stated that nearly 250,000 candidates awaiting university placements can gain practical expertise within seven to eight months.
• Muoria clarified that credits acquired at TVETs can be transferred to universities, providing a seamless pathway for further education.
• The government released TVET scholarship funds last week, with HELB loans expected within the next two weeks to support students.

The National Treasury has announced the allocation of Ksh11.2 billion in climate resilience funding to 46 Kenyan counties for the 2025/2026 financial year, as detailed in the Kenya Gazette on Friday, January 23.

• The funding is part of the County Climate Resilience Investment Grant, a collaboration with the World Bank (Ksh5.7 billion), German Financial Cooperation (KfW) (Ksh1.2 billion), and county governments (Ksh4.2 billion).
• Kakamega County is the largest beneficiary, receiving Ksh543 million, while Isiolo County receives the least at Ksh33 million.
• Funds will support investments in water resource management, agricultural adaptation, infrastructure resilience, early warning systems, and disaster preparedness.
