Divisions and Intimidation Claims Emerge Within ODM Following Odinga's Demise - January 2026
Divisions within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have resurfaced following the demise of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, sparking concerns about the party's future direction ahead of the next General Election. EALA MP Winnie Odinga has alleged that some members of ODM are facing intimidation for holding dissenting views on the new government arrangement. She claimed politicians are being de-whipped for appearing on political platforms with her. Odinga also stated that individuals are asked to declare support for the current regime to receive rewards like Teachers Service Commission slots. A separate public dispute erupted between Winnie Odinga and businessman Oketch Salah regarding the final moments of her father, after she challenged Salah's claims on Citizen TV.
