Police and KDF Officers Arrested Over Extortion and Fraud - February 2026
Several security officers have been arrested in separate incidents involving extortion and fraud. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) dismantled an alleged extortion ring in Mtito Andei, leading to the arrest of a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer and a National Police Service (NPS) counterpart. They, along with a civilian, are accused of posing as security operatives to intimidate bar owners and the public to demand money. In a separate case, a police recruit has been arrested at the National Police College, Embakasi A Campus. The recruit allegedly defrauded a civilian of Ksh687,000 in a fake Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) job scam by promising a guaranteed job opportunity for a fee.
