The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has officially launched the eTIMS Fuel Station System, requiring all petrol stations to issue electronic tax invoices for every transaction. This initiative aims to enhance tax compliance, particularly for motorists claiming fuel expenses as tax deductions, and will digitally transmit transaction data to the KRA in real time.

• All fuel stations must comply with the eTIMS Fuel Station System by December 31, 2025.
• The KRA officially rolled out the system in June 2024 after pilot programs.
• Motorists claiming business expenses must provide their KRA Personal Identification Number (PIN) at the pump for valid tax receipts.
• Since January 2024, any business expenditure not supported by a valid eTIMS invoice is non-deductible for income tax purposes.
• The system integrates directly with fuel dispensers and point-of-sale terminals to automatically connect transactions to KRA's tax monitoring database.

Kenya's ICT and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo announced the government's plan to establish digital hubs across every ward in Kenya, aiming to enhance digital inclusion and create opportunities, especially for young people.

• The announcement was made during the laying of the foundation stone for the Jitume ICT Hub in Makuyu, Murang’a County.
• The CS noted that these hubs will provide internet access, support online work, and promote the delivery of various digital services at the grassroots level.
• Kabogo also highlighted other government achievements within three years, including road tarmacking and affordable housing programs, while calling on residents to embrace the government's development agenda.

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has initiated a 12-month pilot program for Digital Sound Broadcasting (DSB) services in Nairobi, marking Kenya's first live trial of digital radio transmission. This initiative aims to improve spectrum efficiency and expand capacity for broadcasters.

• The pilot will primarily use Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB+) in VHF Band III (174–230 MHz) and Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) in the HF band (below 30 MHz).
• Mast Rental, the first operator to deploy a DAB+ trial network, currently carries 14 radio programs within the Nairobi coverage area.
• The new framework separates content provision from signal distribution, aiming to lower operational costs and reduce entry barriers for community broadcasters, with no analogue switch-off date set for existing FM services.
