Treasury Allocates KRA Extra Sh20B While Law Committee Opposes IEBC Budget - February 2026

The National Treasury has allocated an additional KSh20 billion to the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), specifically earmarked to bolster tax enforcement efforts across the country. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is requesting KSh 63.9 billion for the 2027 general elections, facing scrutiny from MPs over its perceived extravagance. The Law Committee has opposed IEBC's budget request of Shilling 63 billion for the upcoming general election.
