Ruto Announces Start Date for Construction of 500km Road Connecting Five Counties - March 2026
President William Ruto has announced the upcoming construction of a 500km Lake Victoria Ring Road, a project that has been in discussion for over 15 years and will connect five counties. At the same time, Presidents William Ruto of Kenya and Yoweri Museveni of Uganda have officially launched the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) to Malaba, signalling a significant step towards enhancing regional transport and trade. Additionally, the National Land Commission (NLC) has confirmed that over 3,500 landowners in Naivasha, Kisumu, and Malaba will be fairly compensated for land acquired for the new Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) extension. Meanwhile, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has declared an all-out war on bandits in Nyambene, Meru County, setting a strict two-week ultimatum for peace restoration.
