Residents downstream of the Nairobi Dam have been placed on high alert due to rapidly rising water levels, creating an imminent flood risk, with the death toll from floods hitting 81. Heavy floods have disrupted transport on the major Suswa–Narok highway in Kenya, cutting off the route after intense rainfall caused the river to overflow its banks. Residents around Lake Baringo are set to experience improved water quality following the launch of a new water purification project. Meanwhile, CS Aisha Jumwa has pledged to expand access to clean water, acknowledging that women disproportionately suffer from water shortages.
