Kenya's Parliament has summoned Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi to explain allegations of billions lost in a fuel scandal, following concerns raised in the National Assembly regarding the disappearance of significant fuel reserves. The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) issued a stern warning to oil marketing companies regarding alleged hoarding of petroleum products and illegal pricing, warning of significant penalties including license revocation. A human rights lobby, the Mtetezi Grassroots Economic Justice Movement, is threatening nationwide protests if the Kenyan government does not take decisive action regarding allegations of substandard fuel imports.
