Humphrey Wattanga Ousted as KRA Boss, Takes Diplomatic Role - April 2026
Humphrey Wattanga has been removed as Commissioner-General of the Kenya Revenue Authority, just four months before his term was set to end, with the tax agency announcing he will proceed on terminal leave immediately. The KRA Board decided not to renew Wattanga's contract, appointing Lilian Nyawanda as Acting Commissioner General to succeed him. Following his exit from the tax authority, Wattanga has been nominated as Kenya's High Commissioner to South Africa as part of a series of diplomatic nominations announced by President William Ruto.
