Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has called for increased EACC presence and vowed to take firm action against corrupt officials following a report that ranked Kakamega as the most corrupt county with the highest average bribe amount in the country. The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has also issued show-cause notices to at least 10 petrol stations across Kenya for allegedly selling fuel above regulated pump prices. Separately, Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah and fellow petitioners are urging the High Court to reject the Attorney-General's bid to dismiss their case challenging the government's privatisation programme, particularly concerning the Kenya Pipeline Company.
