Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has ordered the Inspector General of Police to immediately arrest individuals allegedly hired as "goons" by opposition leaders. The directive comes amidst accusations that some opposition members are using these groups to disrupt public order and intimidate government officials, including Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo. Vihiga Senator Geofrey Osotsi previously revealed he and fellow Linda Mwananchi leaders were under government surveillance before a violent attack in Kisumu, where he claims an attacker drew a firearm at a coffee shop. National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah has separately accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of orchestrating a plan for incitement and violence targeting Kikuyu Constituency. Murkomen also condemned the assault on Osotsi, deeming it unacceptable and warning against rising political intolerance as elections approach.
