ODM Threatens Exit From Ruto Coalition Over Harassment of Lawmakers - April 2026
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has threatened to exit its political arrangement with President William Ruto's administration, accusing the government of orchestrating the harassment of its lawmakers ahead of the 2027 elections. Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has asserted that the Deputy President position is not subject to negotiation and belongs to Prof Kithure Kindiki, dismissing any claims from ODM leaders. Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo is urging for a swift commencement of coalition talks between UDA and ODM to resolve the dispute. President Ruto has stated that he has the authority to invite any Kenyan to State House, dismissing concerns about recent visits.
