The Orange Democratic Movement has suspended coalition talks with the United Democratic Alliance for the 2027 elections, citing a lack of respect and perceived attempts to undermine the party. This decision comes amid escalating public accusations between leaders of both parties, with ODM leaders specifically accusing UDA of disrespect and unwarranted attacks. Internal discord is surfacing within Kenyan political alliances as ODM and UDA leaders engage in public exchanges, signaling potential rifts in the coalition. The ruling UDA party has additionally accused former President Uhuru Kenyatta of allegedly funding opposition-led mass protests against the government's economic policies, particularly rising fuel prices. Gen Z and opposition leaders are reportedly planning nationwide protests next week in response to the escalating cost of living, exacerbated by the recent fuel price surge.
