ECDE Teachers Threaten Strike as KUPPET Demands Education Reforms - April 2026

Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers in Nandi County are threatening industrial action, including a possible strike, just days before schools are set to reopen. The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) is also threatening to go on strike, demanding significant reforms within the education sector and improved insurance benefits for teachers. The Principal Secretary for Health has expressed concern over the growing burden of mental health issues, noting that a significant portion of individuals seeking healthcare may be undiagnosed.
