Wetangúla's dilemma as Bungoma and national politics edge him out of equation - April 2026
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangúla is facing significant political challenges that could prevent him from seeking elected office in 2027, marking a potential end to his consecutive electoral wins since 1997. Transport operations along the Mumias-Bungoma highway were severely disrupted after irate residents of Bumula blockaded the road in protest over the removal of their Member of Parliament, Jack Wamboka, from the Parliamentary Public Investments Committee. Meanwhile, President William Ruto and Oburu Odinga announced the formation of a broad-based management committee to enhance cooperation between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) parties. Former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has officially joined UDA and declared his intention to run for president in 2032.
