President William Ruto has appointed 37 new judges to the High Court and the Environment and Land Court (ELC), aiming to alleviate a significant backlog of cases. The president is separately facing accusations of taking credit for projects initiated by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro after visiting and commissioning developments at the Kiharu Technical and Vocational College, a facility previously launched by the MP. National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula has offered to mediate a dispute between teachers and the government over the Social Health Authority (SHA) medical scheme to prevent widespread strike action.
