The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has closed a section of the Iten-Kabarnet Road due to a landslide caused by heavy rainfall. This incident coincides with widespread flooding nationwide, disrupting transport and straining infrastructure.

• The affected road section is near Kolol.
• KeNHA is undertaking restoration efforts and advises motorists to use an alternative route via Iten - Eldoret - Eldama Ravine - Kabarnet.
• Heavy downpours have also caused significant disruptions in Nairobi, with flooded major roads and overwhelmed drainage systems, including raw sewage mixing with floodwaters in some areas.

At least seven people were killed in a suspected bandit attack in Kitui County on Saturday, intensifying fears and forcing residents to flee their homes in the remote region.

• Police are hunting the attackers and have vowed to contain the ongoing violence, which they link to retaliatory actions.
