The Kenya National Highways Authority has closed a section of the Iten-Kabarnet Road due to a landslide caused by heavy rainfall, coinciding with widespread flooding nationwide that is disrupting transport and straining infrastructure. Separately, transport on the Garissa-Mwingi Highway was disrupted Tuesday evening after suspected attackers ambushed a passenger bus near Ukasi in Kitui County, throwing stones that shattered the windscreen. At least seven people were killed in a suspected bandit attack in Kitui County on Saturday, intensifying fears and forcing residents to flee their homes in the remote region.
