The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has launched a new Joint Operations Centre (JOC) at Malindi International Airport to bolster aviation security and border management.

• The JOC aims to unify multiple security and border control agencies for enhanced coordination and response to threats.
• The facility was officially launched by the Border Control and Operations Coordination Committee (BCOCC) and funded by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
• This initiative strengthens Kenya's capacity to combat transnational threats, including terrorism and trafficking, particularly in the strategic coastal region.

WWF Kenya has expanded its predator deterrent programme in the Amboseli–Chyulu landscape, installing 272 new units to reduce human-wildlife conflict.

• This initiative brings the total number of deterrent lights to 543, directly benefiting 923 people and protecting 2,866 goats and sheep, as well as 1,137 cattle.
• The programme is implemented by WWF Kenya with support from the Michael Otto Foundation for Sustainability.
• The lights are designed to scare off predators like lions and hyenas by mimicking human activity, addressing frequent nighttime livestock predation incidents in the Amboseli–Chyulu ecosystem.

Recording Academy President Panos Panay is scheduled to visit Nairobi from May 26 to May 29 for high-level talks with Kenyan President William Ruto, aiming to strengthen cultural and creative ties.

• Key figures involved include Panos Panay, President of the Recording Academy, and President William Ruto.
• This visit is supported by the U.S. Department of State through its Arts Envoy Program and precedes Kenya's bid to host the Grammy Awards.
