Workers Celebrate 61st Labour Day Across Kenya - May 2026
President William Ruto led the national Labour Day celebrations on May 1st at Chavakali Boys' School in Vihiga County, joined by thousands of Kenyan workers. Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula delivered speeches addressing workers' rights and the nation's economic progress. Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli participated in the celebrations, with President Ruto and Atwoli seen dancing alongside others during the event. Workers across Kenya commemorated the 61st Labour Day celebrations with events held nationwide, while security was heightened at Chavakali Boys High School in Vihiga ahead of the celebrations.
